Life's a beach

I personally love a bank holiday. My weekend consisted of a beach hut, good company and a exciting design project. As you can see the sun was in full force and i decided to opt for my Asos stripy dress. Stripes are a classic and a must have in your wardrobe. This dress is a basic piece that can be dressed up with colour through accessories or in this case my pink Topshop coat. The beach hut was filled with amazing and colourful accessories all created by my very talented friend Sophie, owner of blog Oh Thats Ally.  This was her shoot for her final collection which can be seen at new designers this June. With the beach as her theme and a metallic and pastel colour palette, her collection is a must have. Here are a few sneaky shots of her amazing work.

P.S- Can we just take a moment to appreciate Sophie's gorgeous neice who joined us on set and her cracking reaction to eating a strawberry- i don't think she was very keen...

BLUE SUEDE SHOES

At last, I have a spare moment to sit down and write a proper blog post. Lets just say that prep for Graduate Fashion Week is well under way and early starts and late nights are in full force! Recently I had a moment to hit the highstreet to see what was lurking, of course as soon as I stumbled across this beaut of a coat in Zara, I could't resist. This is the perfect transition coat from spring to summer. I paired this with a basic white sheer shirt from New Look and my trusty black jeans from Topshop. Can we take a moment to appreciate these shoes? From Next and a steal at £30, I couldn't say no.

PRIVATE SHOPPING AT MATCHES FASHION.

'Maison Martin Margiela loves Matches', and so do i! At the beginning of this year, the opportunity arose for me to work for luxury fashion brand  Matches fashion. Firsts things first, I was blown away by how gorgeous the work space was. Located in a town house in central London, Matches HQ was a lovely environment to work in and the early mornings didn't seem so bad. My job was to assist the private shopping team. Being surrounded daily by designer garments and accessories from the likes of Alexander Mcqueen, Dolce and Gabbana and Balenciaga, this job requires a huge amount of will power to not spend your entire savings! I'll leave you with a few images of the incredible town house that i was lucky enough to spend three weeks working in.

THE COLLECTION

So, i have been slightly quiet on the blog recently and i thought i would write a post on what I have been up to for the past 3 weeks. I have been in the midst of creating my graduate fashion collection. Although there has been a lot of blood, ( hand sewing is pretty dangerous work!), sweat and tears, I have loved every second. Last week I captured my collection in a photoshoot, set up at my grandparents gorgeous Victorian house. Sarah Olivier photographed my collection beautifully and if you haven't taken a look at her work already, you need to- Sarah Olivier Photography. Here are some quick snaps i took on the day with my trusty polaroid (my new love!). Below is also a screen shot of a work in progress behind the scenes video that will be released in June- watch this space.

THE PERFECT ACCESSORY

I have always been a fan of a good lipstick. When you find the perfect shade, it can complete an outfit. I have a rather big collection that i have acumlated over the years, of course not all have been successful but with a bit of research i have found my perfect four. The first is Revlons : Almost Nude. This is the perfect 'my lips but better' shade. A nude is great for days when you're in a hurry and don't have time to faff around with lipstick liners or worrying about the dreaded lipstick on teeth scenario. This one lives in my bag constantly (note the wear and tear!) and never fails to be the perfect everyday shade. It's perfect if you have a paler skin tone as there is a slight peach undertone to the nude that doesn't wash you out. Next up is my new favourite, Topshops: Straight Ace. I know bright purple may seem like a slightly scary concept, but I've grown to love it. It's a perfect go to when in need of a pop of colour. Now for Inhibition, unlike Straight Ace, this Topshop shade is a darker purple. This berry shade is the perfect option for a night out, or a great way to spice up an everyday outfit. Last but certainly not least is Macs: Russian Red. I feel like every lipstick collection should include a red. I went for this shade as it was classic and perfect for everyday wear. This particular formula is very long lasting and i highly recommend if you're looking for an investment.

What's your go-to lipstick?

DENIM DAYS

If you haven't made a trip to Arundel yet then you need to. With miles of footpaths, ducks and lakes, this place is the perfect hot spot for a wind down. For me, perfect walking attire = comfy. I opted for my grey Topshop dress that I purchased last summer. It's a perfect 'throw on and go' dress and goes with most things in my wardrobe, can't go wrong with a simple skater dress. The weather was gorgeous so there was no need for a coat, I decided my denim jacket would be a great addition instead. I got this Levi jacket from a vintage shop in Brick Lane a few years back, it was cheap as chips and i couldn't say no. If you don't yet have one of these, you need to invest. I studded the pockets as i felt it needed a little up cycling after years of wear and tear. My pink bow is from American Apparel, i am a sucker for a bow, I think they add a little something to an outfit- plus, it keeps my unruly locks in shape ;). I decided to go for a red lip, because well, why not? Add some boots or converse and your good to go!

BREEZY BURGUNDY

With the sun at full force today it seemed like the perfect opportunity to go for a brisk walk along the river. I opted for a black outfit as a base and to add some colour I decided to throw on my floral printed kimono from H&M. It's such an easy piece to wear and is a great way to add something to a plain outfit. With a chill in the air, I decided to add my burgundy boyfriend coat from Topshop to match a red lip. An effortless outfit for a breezy spring day.
